I. A SYNOPTIC REMINDER

I once lived in Houston, I worked multiple jobs, I had a studio, many friends, a good reputation, money, place, truck, and all of the things that constitute the American middle class. I never knew poverty until I became stranded in Anderson County. I never realized that cultural apathy, hypocrisy, and manipulation could be so detrimental while also being part of the cultural norm. I was so naive.

XIII. THE LADEN WEIGHT OF IRONY

The Director is on vacation and this is the B-Team. These ladies exhibit some fine bureaucratic thinking. Since I did not go to the hospital, they are giving me a referral to go to Highway 80 in Longview. They claim that my dropping out unnerved everyone. None of the residents seem unnerved. The ladies in charge seem unnerved. This is all rubbish and I feel seriously manipulated because bucks are being passed. They think that they are protecting themselves. This is pathetic, I ask the lady in charge if their actions were Scriptural. Blowing me off was her response. Sooo, is this a church or just another government subsidy.

VIII. CHURCH 

It is Sunday. I am told that their church services are essentially singing songs and a brief message. Depth is my desire because I miss church being a transcendental experience. I open my laptop in a parking garage, read aloud ten more chapters of Job, I pray, and then I feel better. That was church.

ONCE, ATOMA

I. REBORN ON THE SUTURE OF A BLADE

My world has been stripped down to bones and basics. Essentially, there is nothing left but mere being and the laptop. It has been a relentless litany of plunder and a bedlam of savagery. It has been an endless picking of my bones and then vultures flee. I remain abandoned in an arid and desolate wake and under a deserted sun a fragile presence remains changed and blistered through a firefight. The war against my being has honed my spirit. My soul utters with a wakened heart and now I am someone else. It was never a stranger a mirror, but who I have always must become.

LOSING THE AMERICAN CHURCH

There would be no need for many charitable organizations if many of those that proclaim to be Christians truly did live by Scripture. There are endless Scriptures that pertain to YHWH loving the poor. If YHWH loved them, should not his children love them as well? Are not Christians supposed to take the poor into their households if they lack shelter? Are they not supposed to feed them if they are hungry? Christians are not supposed to be a respecter of persons because that is a judgement. How many times have Believers judged a book by its cover and then shamed because of that judgement. The exterior of people can be misleading, if that were not so, then con artists would not be a problem. The bottom line is that those that claim to be his children should love YHWH and to be obedient to the things that we are told to do. If one loves another, one does those things without asking simply because love itself desires to please the object of their affection. The Church today is so far removed from The First Church that was laid out in Acts 1-4.
